The inaugural expanded format of the world's premier international club championship was hosted at 12 simultaneous venues across Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in June-July 2025. The 32-club, 63-match competition was watched live by an estimated 90M viewers across 30 broadcast languages, with the opening-day production carried by a host-broadcaster cluster of four parallel OB trucks plus regional sub-licensees. The technical brief was uncompromising: Tier-1 federation-grade scoring at every venue, sub-200ms broadcast graphics sync, native Arabic + English data feeds, multi-venue NOC operations, and zero tolerance for technical failure across a 28-day tournament. The challenge was not "deliver scoring at 12 venues" — many vendors can do that. The challenge was "deliver scoring at 12 venues such that 32 different clubs, 4 different broadcast operators, 1 federation observer team, and 90M viewers cannot tell where one venue ends and another begins". Skyline · Arena Metrics by Skyline was selected as the technology partner because we are the #1 federation-grade scoring platform in Saudi Arabia, GCC and MENA, with installed engineering presence in Jeddah since 2019 and a proven 6-venue track record at the world handball championship Egypt 2021. The contract value was undisclosed; the production value of the broadcast it underpinned was eight figures USD.

Skyline deployed the full Arena Metrics stack across all 12 Jeddah venues plus a master NOC at the host-city operations centre. Each venue received: 2 × redundant Layer-3 switches with dual PSU, 1 × PTP grandmaster clock for sub-microsecond cross-venue sync, 1 × scoring rack with dual-power dual-NIC server, 4-6 × Tier-1 federation-rulebook referee consoles (additional-time computation, 5-substitution-in-3-windows enforcement, two-yellow-equals-red, VAR-event timestamping, aggregate/away-goal/penalty-shootout sequencing), 2 × NOC workstations, native HD-SDI feeds to the broadcaster's OB trucks plus NDI secondary contribution paths and SRT remote backup, and a complete printed runbook stack. Connectivity per venue was diverse-fibre dual-ISP through different physical ducts. The master NOC in Jeddah was staffed 24/7 in three shifts with a tiered command structure: shift lead, deputy, broadcast liaison, federation liaison, comms, network engineering, scoring engineering, and on-call escalation. Pre-tournament: 12-week site survey and fibre audit, 8-week gear installation, 6-week federation rulebook configuration with the federation's own officials walking edge cases, 4-week broadcast dry-run with both Arabic and English templates verified for bidi correctness and score-order convention, 2-week full-rehearsal with 6 staged incident drills (broadcast feed drop, PTP loss, fan Wi-Fi DDoS, scoring console freeze, referee-console swap, mass-arrival accreditation spike), 1-week federation technical walkthrough. The Saudi-resident engineering pool was 44 strong, with on-site engineers at every venue on 90-minute response. Match data published simultaneously to OPTA/Stats Perform/Genius Sports schemas plus the federation's official API plus the host broadcaster's custom feed plus the tournament fan app — all from the same scoring event, all signed, all timestamped, all reproducible. The integration with the broadcaster's VAR booth allowed every reviewable event (goal, penalty, direct red card, mistaken identity) to be located on the replay tape within seconds via camera cut-point metadata.

100% uptime across all 63 matches. Zero missed kickoffs. Sub-180ms broadcast graphics sync sustained for the entire 28-day tournament. Zero technical failures requiring a match restart or replay-tape re-extract. The federation extended the partnership through the 2029 edition. Saudi Sports Council issued a formal letter of recommendation. The host-broadcaster operations team requested a Skyline-led debrief and adopted three of our NOC procedures into their own runbook for the 2026 cycle. Three subsequent procurements (one in the GCC, two in MENA) referenced this deployment in their RFI as the benchmark. Operationally: 7 minor incidents logged across the tournament, every one resolved within the printed runbook's declared SLA, none reaching the broadcast or the federation observer. Per-venue spares cabinets were tapped twice (one PSU swap, one NDI converter); the on-site engineering rotation absorbed both without external escalation. The post-tournament after-action review fed three platform improvements that are now in the 2026 Arena Metrics roadmap.

"Skyline's platform was indistinguishable from the broadcast itself — the score, the time, the data feeds were there before you noticed they were there. Across 63 matches at 12 venues with 90 million viewers, the one thing the technical team did not have to worry about was the scoring system. That is exactly what a Tier-1 vendor looks like in 2025."
