In sprint athletics the gap between gold and silver is sometimes 0.003 seconds. At that resolution, the human eye is useless. What 2000fps actually buys you

At 2000 frames per second, each frame represents 0.5 milliseconds of motion. For a 100m sprinter crossing the line at ~10 m/s, that's 5mm of body movement per frame. Below 1000fps, the body advances 10-20mm between frames — which is exactly the margin in a tight race. World Athletics rule book requires equipment capable of resolving to a thousandth of a second; below 1000fps you cannot meet that requirement.

Saudi athletics needs this before 2030

The Saudi Sports Boulevard, the King Abdullah Sports City complex, the Diriyah Olympic project — all push toward 2030 as the watershed moment for Saudi athletic infrastructure. Track facilities at the Vision 2030 venues need to support World Athletics record ratification from day one. The wind gauge, the false-start system, and the photo-finish — all three must be calibrated and certified. The first championship hosted at a venue that fails to meet equipment standards triggers a multi-year ratification freeze. Federations don't get to fix it after the fact.
